The eight file types Geordy generates, what each one does, and when to use it.

Geordy generates 8 file types. Here's what each does and when to use it. Start with three core formats - Schema JSON, Markdown, and llms.txt - then add the rest.

## llms.txt

A plain-text directive file. Homepage only. Tells AI systems what your site is, what matters, and how to navigate it. Always use this - it's the first file AI systems look for. Located at ai.yourdomain.com/llms.txt.

## Markdown

Per page. Clean, readable content stripped of layout and scripts. Deploy on every page you want AI to understand clearly. Located at ai.yourdomain.com/about/team.md.

## Schema JSON

Per page. Structured data using JSON-LD vocabulary describing page type (product, article, organization, FAQ). The most impactful format for AI comprehension. Use on every page. Located at ai.yourdomain.com/about/team.schema.json.

## YAML

Per page. Lightweight key-value data - a human-readable alternative to JSON. Deploy when you prefer compact syntax. Located at ai.yourdomain.com/about/team.yaml.

## OG.json

Per page. Open Graph metadata as JSON. Title, description, image, type - the same data social platforms use. Useful for programmatic access. Located at ai.yourdomain.com/about/team.og.json.

## RSS (.xml)

Per page. RSS feed entries for updating content like blogs and products. Not needed for static pages. Located at ai.yourdomain.com/about/team.xml.

## manifest.json

Per page. App-style metadata including name, description, icons, and theme. Nice-to-have. Lower priority than Schema JSON and Markdown. Located at ai.yourdomain.com/about/team.manifest.json.

## humans.txt

Homepage only. Human-readable credits file. Optional - a small courtesy for transparency. Located at ai.yourdomain.com/humans.txt.

## How URLs map to files

Root-level files include only /llms.txt and /humans.txt. All others mirror your site URL paths.
