# AI Agents

Software powered by LLMs that takes goals and executes multi-step tasks - including reading the web on a user's behalf.

An AI agent is a system that uses a language model as its reasoning engine to decompose a goal into steps, call tools (search, browser, APIs), and self-correct. From a GEO perspective, agents matter because they read the web on the user's behalf. They prefer dense, well-structured content and they cache it. If your site only exists as rendered HTML, you're not in the agent's working memory.
