Auto-Refresh & Scheduling Behavior

Understand how Geordy's automatic refresh system keeps your structured data current with intelligent cadence-based scheduling.

Once installed and connected, Geordy continuously refreshes your structured data according to each URL's assigned cadence. This is the heart of its automation engine.

Cadence Rules

Daily

Pages refresh roughly every 24 hours. Best for frequently updated content like news, blogs, or product pages.

Weekly

Pages refresh every 7 days. Ideal for standard content pages that update occasionally.

Monthly

Pages refresh every 30 days. Perfect for static content like documentation or evergreen articles.

Distributed Scan Scheduling

Geordy distributes scans evenly throughout the day to avoid server load spikes. Rather than scanning all daily URLs at midnight, the system intelligently spreads processing across 24 hours.

Smart Distribution Benefits

  • Prevents server overload from simultaneous scans
  • Ensures consistent processing speed throughout the day
  • Reduces queue congestion and wait times
  • Maintains optimal performance for all users

Incremental Updates

Each automated run updates only the formats that have changed since the last version. This intelligent approach:

  • Reduces processing time for unchanged content
  • Minimizes bandwidth usage
  • Ensures faster scan completion
  • Preserves server resources

Monitoring Automatic Runs

1

Check Last Scan Timestamp

View the Last Scan metric on your dashboard to see when the most recent automatic run completed.
2

Review Recent Activity

Look for auto-generated entries in the Activity Log showing cadence-triggered scans.
3

Verify File Modification Dates

Visit your hosted subdomain (e.g., geo.example.com/llms.txt) to confirm the file's modification date matches expected cadence.

Troubleshooting Delayed Runs

If a scheduled run appears delayed, check the following:

Common Causes

  • 1.
    Domain Connection Issue

Verify your domain connection in Connect Your Custom Domain

  • 2.
    Temporary Queue Backlog

Check the Processing Queue for congestion

  • 3.
    URL Access Restrictions

Ensure Geordy can access your URLs (not behind authentication or IP restrictions)

Optimizing Cadence Settings

Choose the right cadence for each URL type to balance freshness with efficiency:

Content TypeRecommended CadenceReason
News & Blog PostsDailyFrequently updated content
