Best Practices
Rollout order, refresh rates, validation tips.
Geordy works best when you roll out deliberately. These patterns come from real usage.
Start with the Top 5
Before importing your sitemap, structure these five pages first. This gives AI a complete picture fast.
- Homepage - the first thing AI systems check. Sets the baseline.
- Pricing - high-intent page. Revenue-critical for AI retrieval.
- Top category page - anchors your taxonomy for AI understanding.
- Best product page - concrete proof of what you offer.
- About / credibility page - trust and authority signals for AI.
Then scale with sitemap
Once the pipeline works for 5 pages, import your XML sitemap and process in batches. Prioritize money pages first. Validate one page, confirm the output, then import. Not the other way around.
Refresh strategy
- Keep auto-updates on for pages that change: products, categories, frequently edited marketing pages.
- Pause auto-updates if you manually edited a format and want to lock it.
- Use weekly scans unless the page changes daily. Most marketing pages don't.
Enable what you deploy
3 formats instead of 8 cuts credits by more than half. Start with Schema JSON, Markdown, and llms.txt (homepage only). Add OG.json, YAML, RSS, manifest, and humans.txt when you're ready to deploy them.
When output looks off
TipIf a generated format feels wrong, the original page is usually unclear to machines. Fix the page, regenerate. The structured output follows the source.
Validation checklist
- Open ai.yourdomain.com/llms.txt in browser - does it load?
- Check schema.json output - does the entity type match the page?
- Verify link tags in page source - are <link rel="alternate"> tags present?
- Dashboard shows recent scan activity - not stale timestamps.
- Credits usage matches expectations for your URL count and refresh rate.
