Link tags in a shared template
Shared header or template serves one head for every page, so there is nothing to paste. What to do instead.
The tag tells AI tools where your files are.
Your page's tags are in the dashboard, under Setup and then Install tags. They carry the real file addresses for that page, so they work as soon as the page is live. This guide is about where they go once you have them.
Shared header or template has no per-page head
A shared template has one head for every page, so a fixed block pasted there would give every page these same file names. It has to build each page's file name from the page's own address.
- Open the layout or header template your pages share.
- Build each tag's file name from the page's own address, using the naming rule in this step.
- The tags in this step are exactly what your template should produce for this page, so use them to check your work.
What that covers
This is one page's finished tags. Pasting it into a shared template as it is would give every page these same file names.
Covering every page
To cover every page from one place, your template has to build the file name from the page's own address. That is a small change to your site's code, not a block you can paste. The naming rule is shown with it, and these tags are exactly what it should produce for this page.
The naming rule those tags follow:
- your home page (/) becomes index
- /technology becomes technology
- /docs/setup/ becomes docs/setup
and humans.txt describe the whole site. They are the same address on every page and never take a page name.
